What makes a good book?
Of course, there's no correct definition. The answer depends on what we are looking for. When creating this platform, I've decided that I wanted to use it to answer questions. Based on this premise and after surveying fellow readers for core qualities, I reduced it down to the following:
Personality
The work is a passionate argument of the author's opinions and core beliefs.
Rationality
The author uses facts as presented to them. They have gained much perspective and absorbed a variety of opinions before presenting a position.
Specificity
The work is not an overview on a topic. The author explores a particular in-depth question, and returns his or her systematic thoughts on the matter.
Systematicity
The author breaks down the argument into its logical components. Usually reflected in the table of contents.
Other than the title and author, you will need 1-2 paragraphs of highlights, so have your book on hand. If you don’t want to type (which can be tedious work), you’ll be able to take or upload a photo of the page, and our server will extract the text for you.
The community and I sincerely appreciate the time and effort it takes to contribute to The Modest Inquisitor. You are helping curious people from across generations and across the world discover gems of truth.
