As you may have guessed, "The Modest Inquisitor" is a wordplay on Dostoevsky’s "The Grand Inquisitor," a story within a story that sums up what reading means to me personally: an intimate conversation between two individuals with opposite outlooks, an analogy of the self torn between faith and truth, a moral tale with ambiguous conclusions, as well as an incisive inquiry into the construction of meaning.
